Experience the timeless tradition of painting outdoors in this immersive one-day plein-air oil painting workshop. Working from direct observation, students will be introduced to a traditional approach to landscape painting, beginning with a grisaille compositional underpainting and incorporating atmospheric perspective to capture light, atmosphere, color, and the unique character of the landscape in oil.

  • workshop description

The day begins in the studio, where participants will explore essential plein-air materials, setup,  processes, and painting techniques. In the afternoon, we will move outdoors to put these  concepts into practice, painting on location and responding directly to the natural environment.

Designed for painters looking to expand their skills and confidence outdoors, this workshop offers a focused and supportive introduction to the plein-air experience. Prior experience with  oil painting is recommended.
