WHEN MAINTENANCE BECOMES HISTORIC PRESERVATION EMBRACING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

In 2018, an Amish family from northern Maine restored our Historic Seaview Farm Silos with a Nantucket Community Preservation Act Funds granted by the CPC, Community Preservation Committee.

THE LONG SHED CERAMICS STUDIO

NISDA's Long Ceramics Studio has undergone historic restoration, thanks to Community Preservation Funds Grant assistance. A new roof, shingles and amazing large sliding barn doors have been restored for so students can work in the "open air" overlooking the farm Dairy Barn, Heifer Barn, Silos and Meadow. A French Drain is now in place to help channel Eat Fire Spring which is just behind the building. A new cement floor has been poured and we have plans to install Solar on the 100 foot south facing roof which will allow our studio to be open year round to the community while being green and energy effecient!

NISDA would like to thank the Community Preservation Committee members for their continued vote for financial support to restore the Historic Seaview Farm, enabling NISDA to preserve the last of the Dairy Barns on the Island! The CPC Funding will continue to help NISDA maintain the historic structures so Artists and the Community at Large can continue to enjoy our facilities and programming.
