Participants will consider related art history and aesthetics, from the Classical painter Caravaggio to contemporary artist Shepard Fairey, as well as both traditional and modernist techniques of image-making.
This course is open to both Teens and Adults, and is open to both the novice or experienced artist. This course meets for two-and-a-half hours a day for four mornings across one week, 9:30 am to 12 noon on Tuesday through Friday.
Students should bring the following materials
available at https://www.nantucketcreate.com/
- a graphite drawing pencil (e.g. an Ebony Pencil or Flat Sketching Pencil);
- an eraser (e.g. a white Prismacolor “Magic Rub Eraser” or similar);
- a 24-sheet pad of 9” by 12” plain white drawing paper (e.g. Strathmore Series 400 Off-White Drawing Paper or similar);
- an iPhone or Smartphone with a camera and website capabilities.
Students will have the option to continue working independently in the studio outside of class.
Students should also bring a water-bottle or similar beverage and a mid-morning snack.
All other materials will be supplied by the instructor.
