DIRECTIONS TO NISDA
NISDA Seaview Farm, Dairy Barn and Long Shed Studios, in Wauwinet, are located eight miles from town. Take any south-bound or east-bound road from Nantucket Town to the Rotary Intersection; proceed ton the Sconset-Milestone Road; take the second left, towards Polpis; continue on the Polpis Road for six miles; turn left at the Wauwinet turnoff. NISDA’s Barn is one-half mile on the right.
How to get to Nantucket Island
By boat:
STEAMSHIP AUTHORITY (508-477-8600)
An old-fashioned 2 1/2 hour ferry ride. Departs (carrying cars by reservation only) as well
The HY-LINE (508-775-7185), a catamaran fast ferry with 1 hour ride. operates out of Hyannis. Both lines carry passengers (and bicycles) without advance reservation.
By train or bus:
AMTRACK out of New York City and Boston connects Providence, RI with buses to Hyannis. Daily, year-round bus service operates from New York (with transfer in Providence) and Boston to Hyannis. Check schedules with GREYHOUND, BONANZA and PLYMOUTH & BROCKTON. Air service, available from Providence, Boston, New York, New Bedford, Hyannis, Martha’s Vineyard and other locations in New England.
Transportation On-Island
There is a NERTA island-wide shuttle bus. Students may bring bicycles or scooters. NISDA 14-passenger vans provide program transportation.
There are two bike rental stores on the island.
