NISDA’s programs are held in the Nantucket land and seascape and at its studio facilities at Sea View Farms, a converted dairy barn in Wauwinet. Classroom and studio spaces at the NISDA Barn include two 2D/3D studios; a small textile studio; photo studio with two black and white darkrooms; library; silo gallery; and an outdoor open air studio.

Additionally, there is a small ceramics studio in a milking shed at the barn with a skutt electric kiln, with the option of pit firing in the meadow or at the beach, and two top-of-the-line throwing wheels.

The studios are open to program participants 24-hours-a-day and are located 8 miles from the Harbor Cottages. NISDA program participants also enjoy working in the surrounding meadow or at nearby Polpis Harbor.

NISDA’s Artist in Residence Program has been in the midst of cascading extraordinary events in the last year. Our biggest challenge was the four floods of the winter of 2017-18, which involved the Artist in Residence property in town. We will admit that these events posed a bit of a challenge at the time, but they have become an opportunity to begin planning the re-establishment of a portion of the Residency Cottages near our Studios at Seaview Farm in Wauwinet. Residents may work in their cottages as well as access all that the island has to offer from the Athenaeum, museums and galleries to the moorlands, forests and beaches.
