APPLICATION POLICIES
To Complete Registration
Simply fill out the appropriate application form marking your course(s) of choice for July and/or August as well as cottage housing. Your total program cost (including tuition and housing), is due with your application to insure course registration and/or cottage space (and is subject to NISDA’s credit policy).
Do remember our class size is limited and will be filled as registrations are received. A short waiting list will be kept for each course with on-going enrollment possible on a space available basis.

Cottage Shared or Individual Living
Cottages are dedicated to those participating in programs. See fees and indicate your program dates of stay on application.
Students staying in Cottage receive 10% off tuition.
Your Course Supplies and Studio Lab
Your lab fee covers the studio lab and equipment and studio use throughout summer, basic sketch paper & supplies for in studio class workshops.When additional supplies are necessary a supply list will be provided.
Drop-in enrollment
We have a variety of classes designed to lend themselves to “drop-in” enrollment. Please call NISDA’s office for listing (508-228-9248) or drop by and visit our registration staff.
Work-Study Exchange For Youth and Adults
We welcome your talent and energy! Gain important job experience while defraying a portion of your tuition! Please attach a letter of request, with documentation of your financial need and a brief explanation of artistic capabilities to your application. Full registration, lab fee & college credit transfer fees must be paid by the student.
NISDA College Internship
Join NISDA as a college intern. We welcome your involvement. Interns join us from colleges across the U.S. Please send letter of interest, resume and references.
High School Assistantship
Considering being a high school studio assistant. You will assist side-by-side with faculty and college interns. Write us a note about yourself, your interests, and please include references.
Tutorials
We are happy to arrange individual tutorials for you with our NISDA faculty. Please write a note with your ideas and requests and bring to NISDA office and we will arrange.
Eunice Haskell Memorial Islander Scholarship
Awarded annually to Nantucket Public School students. Islander Youth Scholarships provide partial assistance to year-round students/residents. No youth is turned away due to financial need. Please see complete listing of assistance options on Teen Application.
Comfort and Sustenance
Enjoy your summer! Wear old comfy clothes. Bring layers for rain, fog, sun and wind. Sunscreen, glasses, hat, a bag, bug repellent, lunch and drinks. There are refrigerators and a microwave.
Revision Policy
NISDA reserves the right to adjust registration and course schedules, change instructors and alter requirements from the published program and with insufficient enrollment cancel classes. Often a tutorial may be arranged.
Course Credit Cancellation Policy
NISDA operates on tuition-based budget which supports your program. Because of our obligations to our instructors, facilities and program costs, refunds cannot be made. If for any reason you are unable to attend a course including family health or emergency in which you are enrolled, a one-year credit toward tuition will be issued to be used by you or assigned to a friend in writing. Fees will be refunded only if courses have been closed or cancelled by NISDA.
We’re an Absolutely Smoke-Free School
For the health and comfort of our students, smoking is not permitted in the NISDA barn, surrounding farm landscape, Harbor Cottages or courtyard. Thanks.

Tax Deduction
Treasury Regulation 1.162.5 permits an income tax deduction for education expenses (registration fees and cost of travel, meals, lodging) undertaken to maintain and improve skills required in one’s employment or other trade or business, or to meet express requirements of an employer or a law imposed as a condition of retention of employment, job status, or rate of compensation.
