NISDA’s new Artists-in-Studio invites artists and Individuals with knowledge and technical capacity to work on their own in NISDA’s Ceramic, Painting, Photography, Textile and Jewelry Studios. This format has been created in response to those seeking to use the NISDA’s studios without being enrolled in a course. Summer Arts studio use is offered for specific times. The schedules are designed throughout the week at times there are no NISDA classes or workshops being held and schedules change with the seasons. Artists will be working in studios alongside program participants working on projects outside of their class time. This provides an opportunity to work independently and at other times alongside artisans or students sharing ideas and expertise. NISDA’s library has resources on arts and crafts available for inspiration and information. Registration fee includes attending NISDA’s Lecture Series and Thursday Eve Figure Studio., as well a the opportunity to exhibit in a group show at NISDA Silo Gallery. An orientation meeting to the studios is required prior to using the studio. At that time a schedule of studio time for that season, studio procedures, equipment use, studio maintenance and in the case of ceramics, clay and firing fees will be reviewed. Specific guidelines apply to each studio. Participants are invited to NISDA events and assist with sitting in the Gallery, monitoring studios, and volunteering their talent.
